We’re on a mission from God!
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Tuesday , March 29th 9pm
Otto’s Shrunken Head
538 E. 14th street (A & B)
– It’s 106 miles to Chicago. We’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses.
– Hit it.
Have you ever watched the TV show “According to Jim?” Well neither have I, but it has made me wonder “How the fuck does Jim Belushi have a successful acting career, while I’m just a part time writer / freelance shepherd / crack-whore union delegate?” Well, the answer is talent. Only it’s not his talent. Its his late brother John’s.
Nowhere was John Belushi’s talent showcased better than in the 1980 hit film “The Blues Brothers” where he starred alongside Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, a still-hot Carrie Fisher, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and a very special 1974 Dodge Monaco.
So come on down, and bring your sunglasses, your half-a-pack of cigarettes, and your hatred of Illinois nazis while you order up some orange whips and we play a special Director’s cut of the film, which has some cool deleted scenes. As an extra special treat, provided the weather is good, we will have a real live Bluesmobile that you’re free to gawk at, drool over, or take photos with.
“Our lady of blessed acceleration, don’t fail us now!
